South African Journal of Political Studies (Routledge)

We would like to thank Meenal Shrivastava and Jo-Ansie van Wyk (respectively the editor and the book editor of Politikon) for their competent stewardship of the SAAPS journal over the past three years. Meenal and Jo-Ansie compiled editions of consistent high quality, and have maintained Politikon's international accreditation and standing.

In 2010 Politikon will get a new editorial team: Pieter Fourie (editor, Macquarie University), Kristina Bentley (assistant editor, UCT) and Thomas Wilkins (book editor, University of Sydney) have been appointed for the next three years (2010-2010). Information regarding special editions will be communicated in due course, and in the meantime plase feel free to submit articles and book review for consideration.

Pieter's email address is pieter.fourie@mg.edu.au, Kristina's is kristina.bentley@uct.ac.za, and Thomas can be contacted at t.wilkins@econ.usyd.edu.au. Politikon is ranked in the Social Sciences Index, and is published by Taylor & Francis.

The Journal focuses primarily on South African politics, but not exclusively so. Over the years Politikon has published articles by some of the world's leading political scientists, including Arend Lijphart, Samuel Huntington, and Philippe Schmitter.

It has also featured important contributions from South Africa's leading political philosophers, political scientists and international relations experts. It has proved an influential journal, particularly in debates over the merits of South Africa's constitutional reforms (in 1983 and 1994).

In the last few years special issues have focused on women and politics in South Africa, and the South African election of 1999. Recent articles have looked at the negiotated transition from Apartheid to democracy, aspects of identity politics in post-Apartheid South Africa and issues of democratic consolidation.
